Skive Opera Festival

The Skive Opera Festival returns second time to Skive from 24th September to 1st of october 2017. Many international opera singers who appeared in the Vienna state opera, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Bolshoi theatre,  the Bayreuth Festival and elsewhere, will present an Italian Opera Gala, La Traviata from Giuseppe Verdi and a new opera TROJA (after Ilias by Homer) by the danish Composer Jeppe N. Jacobsen. The young danish Composer, was born in Skive, studied in Salzburg at the Mozarteum and had very early success and honoration with his first opera DER SONNENKREIS, which was performed in Salzburg 2008 and at the Skive opera Festival 2015.

A new danish singer Talent was discovered in the Grandi Voci opera competition in Salzburg: Carina Tybjerg Madsen, a lyric soprano from Frederiksberg will also perform in the Opera Gala excerpts from Tosca and La Boheme.

Grace Bumbry - the legend under the great opera stars, Carmen in Salzburg under Karajan, Tosca at the Met in New York with Levine and Aida at La Scala in Milano and first black singer (Venus in Tannhäuser) in the Richard Wagner Festspiele in Bayreuth will open the Festival on 24th September in Kulturcenter Limfjord (KCL) Skive, which is quite a Llttle sensation. The meanwhile 80 year old Diva who recieved the Kennedy Award 1961 by J.F. Kennedy AND 2010 from Barrack Obama -  performed still in 2014 in Vienna state opera and at the Oper im Berg Festival 2017 in Salzburg. She will also give a masterclass for Young singers in Skive.
